The week of Otober 6 was a successful week on the Grande Ronde. The purple spey fly produced Steelhead every day. Their has been a surge in the number of fish in the system. We are still catching fish near the surface, but are watching that water temperature cool a bit due to some cold and snowy conditions over the weekend. Our thermometer read 41 F on Thursday. We expect to be going a bit deeper very soon. This week should be a great week for fishing with the sun shining and air temperatures increasing. The river has also had a nice boost in flow due to the precip over the weekend. This seems to always get the fish moving.
